Romans 12:1-2 Annotated

ROMANS 12:1-2 

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. 
Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. 

 

offer= παρστημι = paristēmi 

"to place beside," "to present;"to proffer; to provide; to place a person or thing at one's disposal; to bring to, bring near; to stand by to help, to succor; to stand beside, stand by or near, to be at hand, be present;to be at hand, stand ready; to be at hand for service

 

living= ζω =zaō

be alive; to live, breathe, be among the living (not lifeless, not dead);o be in full vigour;  to be fresh, strong, efficient; active, powerful, efficacious; to continue to live, to be kept alive; to live and be strong; to be no longer dead, to recover life, be restored to life; having vital power in itself and exerting the same

 

sacrifice= θυσα = thysia
